Tribal Trend

The tribal fad is back this season with a brighter and bolder colour palette than ever. Patterned frocks, aboriginal jewelry and African head wraps can all been spotted anywhere from luxury runways to the racks of trendy shops this summer.

Missoni, Oscar de la Renta, Matthew Williamson, Naeem Khan, Pollini, Lanvin, Just Cavalli, Diane von Furstenberg and Proenza Schouler all have beautiful tribal-inspired pieces in their spring/summer 2011 collections. Any shopper can score affordable tribal clothing and accessories in every day stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters as well as Anthropology.

There is a certain way to wear this look successfully though. Be cautious that an all-tribal ensemble could easily look like a Halloween costume. The key is to stick to one or two pieces at a time. A detailed frock doesn't require any accessories or over-the-top shoes. Let everyone marvel at the prints and patterns of the dress instead of trying to keep track of everything going on with the outfit. My favourite look is a white summer dress with a tribal bag and matching heels as pictured above. I also adore white skinny jeans, a loose fitted tank top and a multicoloured Peruvian belt.

Enjoy the warm weather with this fabulous look. And for those globe trotting this summer, be sure to pick up lots of tribal-inspired accessories while vacationing in those exotic locations and touring through the local markets.

String Bikini Anyone?

Bathing suit season is just around the corner. And after watching that video and gawking at all the unique, playful and sexy styles from MIKOH's 2011 swimwear line, I've had to reintroduce myself to Mr. Treadmill and Mrs. Yoga Class.

This is the second collection by the sister duo who make up MIKOH. Oleema Miller and Kalani Miller were both professional surfers for Roxy who began designing swimwear after wearing bathing suits on the California coast most of their lives.

Swimwear is currently an oversaturated market with far too many brands to keep track of. For this reason, the sister's wanted to create something special a woman could slip into ensuring no copy cat suits at the beach or poolside this season.

Miss Wasson

There has been a lot of female bloggers confessing their girl crush on Miss Wasson lately, and I can definitely see why. This simple girl from Texas with a simple style has media chatting about and photographing her beauty and bohemian look on and off the runway.

Erin Wasson is best known for being a model and appearing in various campaigns, on the Victoria Secret catwalk and smack-dab on the front covers of French, German, Spanish and Australian Vogue. She is an occasional stylist and recently designed lines for RVCA and her personal jewelry line, Low Luv.

Although she's extremely accomplished career wise, it's her creative personal style that has caught the attention of fashionistas around the world. This tatted up bombshell looks just as great when professionals dress her for work as she does in her every day. Messy hair, no bra, cut off jean shorts and clunky boots are all key ingredients for her daytime signature look, while tight dresses and ankle booties are part of her evening attire. Add a little SPF face cream, funky hats, vintage accessories and voila - the perfect summertime outfits.

I adore her street style so much because it's effortless and natural. I along with many other women have become inspired by Wasson's look. Not only is it unique and trendy, but it's also very comfortable.

Key pieces in my closet for this spring and summer include:

-men's ankle boots or oxford shoes. I just found a beauty pair of brown men's Italian leather snakeskin oxford shoes while vintage shopping and it has been the highlight of my month! Every time I leave the house with them on, I get at least five compliments. One of my best investments so far.

I could probably post pictures of Wasson all day long, but here are just a few boho looks that I'm into. Keep reading because I will post pictures of her eclectic NYC apartment very soon. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!

In The Trenches

A reliable trench coat is a wardrobe must-have around this time of year for men and women. When it's not too cold or too hot outside, the perfect trench coat feels just right! Here are some drool worthy (mostly Burberry) finds.

Room Service

It seems like anything Karl Lagerfeld touches turns to gold. This was the case when the world famous fashion and perfume designer was commissioned to brainstorm a campaign for Dom Perignon.

The short film he directed is based on a contemporary fairy tale where two solitary and seductive hedonists cross paths at one of Paris' finest hotels - George V hotel. Eva Herzigova wears three of the most stunning white dresses, drips with jewels and indulges in the sweetest of French desserts. The stranger next door, Brad Kroenig, isn't too bad on the eyes either. Lagerfeld shot photographs of the couple's erotic encounter while Johan Renck shot the film.

Not that Dom Perignon needs the extra attention or advertisement, but perhaps the campaign was created to show the world its true origin? With Dom being tainted in every hip hop and rap video around, thugs and strippers don't exactly portray the class behind the beverage. Sometimes we have to be reminded of the sophistication and glamour that an incredible bottle of vintage Champagne can bring.

In With The Old

It was another hard day at the office for me. This whole gig of trying on beautiful clothes and working with extremely fun photographers is really difficult sometimes. In case you didn't catch on - I'm being sarcastic :)

Awhile back I modelled a series of vintage outfits for photographer Michelle Belsky. The shoot was styled and photographed in studio. Pieces included fitted blazers with high shoulder pads, Parisian silk dresses and high-waisted pleated pants to name a few.

I adore wearing vintage pieces in my daily wardrobe. I often mix and match vintage and new clothing to create an original outfit. The materials are rich and high quality and I can rest assured I will never show up to an event with the same outfit as anyone else.

Viva la vintage!

Real Men Wear Pink

They're lean and mean. They're rough and tough. They're most likely bruised and battered. And they come ready for battle dressed in pink.

Years ago when the president of Stade Francais Paris was trying to promote his rugby team, he looked to the fashion world for help. Max Guazzini wanted to create identifiable jerseys and some say use new uniforms to boost ticket sales. He first picked three lightening flashes which are now the club emblem and soon after opted for Barbie/bubblegum pink coloured uniforms for his burly and sweaty players to sport.

What better way to cause a little chatter in the macho rugby league than have his team's away uniforms in the rarest colour for any sportsman to wear - pink?

That year the team sold more than 20, 000 replica jerseys and obviously got a lot of attention by media and fans alike. The following year Guazzini had fashion designer, Kenzo, create another pink jersey. I guess real men aren't afraid to wear pink...

Flower Power

Holy Begonia! I am really ready for spring now that I saw Kelsey Genna's latest collection titled Begonia House. It's fun, flirty and chock-full of floral details. Can you believe the designer is only 19 years old?

The dresses would be the perfect thing to slip into (when the weather heats up of course) that will have you smiling the rest of the day. But, I must admit it's the high-waisted dusty rose pants with the over sized flower accent that are my favourite. Lately I've been wearing lots of vintage high-waisted pants passed down from my mother. They are extremely comfortable because of the extra room around the hips yet they give a really polished and high fashion look with pleating and tapered legs. I always pair mine with heels so my legs seem never ending!

Inner Gypsy in Kate Moss

Well well well look what I stumbled upon. Looks like I'm not the only one with a slight fascination for gypsies. One of the most famous supermodels, Kate Moss, was picture perfect in last year's editorial in V Magazine. She teamed up with photographer, Iain McKell, and stylist, Karen Langely, to create the ultimate gypsy photo shoot.

I adore everything about this shoot, and I'm even more impressed with word that Moss snubbed a nearby hotel and decided to camp out for two nights with real gypsies in Cornwall, England. Where do I sign up to get paid for a gig like this?

I believe there is a gypsy flame within everyone. Whether it comes out in a free-spirited lifestyle or even if it's harboured deep down inside, it's still there. Moss had no problem showing her hippie chic spirit during this shoot - playing with rings of fire, sitting by campfire and posing in front of a decorated caravan all the while wearing beautiful designer clothes by Isabel Marant, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Kenzo, John Galliano, Stefanel and Dsquared.

Oh La La Buckler

I am so thankful to have many men reading and following my blog. When I launched GypsyMe I aspired for the ladies as well as the gentlemen to enjoy my posts. And although I sometimes feature some girlie fluff on my blog, I always make sure to add those masculine touches here and there. This post however is strictly dedicated to all those men who dress to impress. If you like to keep up with the season's most fashionable gear, then look not further because I've found your new favourite store.

During Fashion Week, my friend Michelle and I got pulled into a sassy store event while walking up Queen Street West. Buckler is a menswear brand founded in 2001 by Andrew Buckler - known as a designer who “disregards the universal monotony that plagues menswear”. The label melds roguish American style with British edge which makes for fitted, stylish and comfortable clothing for work or play. For work, Buckler has teamed with Gansevoort Tailors to introduce a line of made-to-measure suiting. As for play, the designer offers traditional guys a chance to look ruggedly handsome in the outdoors.

Buckler currently only has stores in London, New York City and Toronto. Michelle and I loved the 700 Queen Street West location and the event. The store had racks of clothing that party goers could explore while they enjoyed music by a guest DJ and complimentary Champagne all night. They even handed us gift bags with some high end men's products which I will pass onto my brother.

Trendy music, free cocktails and an abundance of great looking men - I guess it pays to be in the right place at the right time.

Voila - Some looks from Buckler's fall 2010 collection. I am a big fan of the boots featured with every outfit. There's something very sexy about a man stomping around in big high topped boots wouldn't you say?

Denim on denim is a very popular look right now. Feel free to pair any coloured pieces of denim together. Wear jeans with a jean shirt, jean vest, jean jacket or go wild and wear all three at the same time!

This line focused on grey and neutral tones.

Doesn't plaid remind everyone of autumn? Plaid is trendy no matter what way you wear it. When the weather cools down wear your favourite button up under a cardigan, add slouch cargo pants tucked into heavy boots and you're set.

This menswear brand captures a polished look while staying true to its signature rocker vibe.

Tip top tailored

These are great street wear looks. A little hat and some boots can instantly add some spice to any ordinary outfit of jeans and a button up.

A fitted sweater under a detailed blazer is a strong look for an evening out on the town or a fancy dinner.
